So many folks I know working in change, transformation and communication are overwhelmed right now.

Anytime I catch up for a (virtual) brew with friends and colleagues, I hear the same things over and over:

“I’m struggling under the weight of a mammoth workload, with no end in sight.”

“My To-Do list keeps bloody growing, no matter how many tasks I try to tick off.”

“I’ll just get over this hump, then I’ll have a bit of breathing space.”

Do you relate?

Organisations need change and transformation experts more than ever, and that means that many of us are on the verge of overwhelm managing unreasonable workloads.

That’s why, in today’s ep of The New Way Podcast, I’m sharing the 5D hack for busy change managers you’ll wish you’d known sooner.

I take you through the exact hack I use to get a handle on my To-Do list and priorities.

Get ready to discover:

  • The different 5 filters that will help you quickly clarify priorities

  • A game-changing question that will immediately free you from perfectionism

  • How to easily incorporate the 5D Framework into your workweek

Anytime I’m feeling overwhelmed and use the 5Ds to help me clarify and sort out my To-Do list I immediately feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

Listen to the ep right now, and then give this hack a go today. I hope it makes you feel like you can breathe easy again!

TOPICS DISCUSSED AND WHERE TO FIND THEM:

[3:30]: The 5D framework is what you need when your plate is full and you need a really practical time management tool. It’s made up of 5 filters to categorize, prioritize and progress everything on your plate.

[4:50]: This hack only takes half an hour from feeling overwhelmed to feeling calm and excited.

[5:10]: The process: Grab paper, write down everything on my to-do list (including personal tasks).

[7:41]: Grab out another five fresh pieces of paper, label each paper with one of the five 5Ds.

[8:12]: Do it first (most important, non-negotiable).

[8:43]: Delegate it (others can do it).

[10:13]: Defer it (important but not immediately urgent).

[11:15]: Diminish it (how can I get the same result with less effort in less time?).

[12:17]: Delete it (doesn’t bring me closer to delivering change objectives).

[13:22]: Then grab the to-do list, set a timer for 15 minutes, and move every task on the list onto one of those five pieces of paper.

[15:00]: Overwhelm will be gone!

[16:14]: Summary.
